Hello Parents!
That you are reading this page indicates that you are interested in
what your children are doing on the internet. Being a parent
as well, I understand your concerns and would like to offer to you
several thoughts about our children and the internet.
See the bottom of this page for links to several parental control
programs that are available. I am not affiliated with any of
them, they are here for your convenience only.I'm a Parent
too...
The "Kid
Zone" was made by me for my two young boys to have a safe place to
play on the internet. There are a lot of fun games and kid safe
sites that cater directly to children, and most of the content on
the Kid Zone is made up of links to these kid safe sites. There are
a few that you might need to help them with as there are sign ups
involved. I have compiled fun and interesting sites that my boys have really
enjoyed. They visit the same places frequently, but change
their favorites from time to time.
I hope your kids enjoy the site I have put together.
Privacy and Advertising
There are laws protecting children and computer information
collection that keeps the internet in the realm of safe usage.
Many of my other websites are supported by income derived
from advertising and affiliate programs, but I felt that this was
not appropriate for the Kid Zone. The advertising that would be
displayed could
grab the attention of the children and could lead them to unsafe
content. I do not now, nor do I plan to collect any personal
information from the Kid Zone site. Your browser does not need 'cookies' enabled to use
the site as I am not enabling any extra capabilities to the site
that are cookie driven.
Be Careful and Observe
We are all aware that there is a lot of distasteful content on
the web. How do we make sure our children are safe going
out there on their own? Bring them up to understand that bad content is not good for
their well being and healthy development is one aspect of this, but
children, being children, will lay aside the best of advice from time
to time. Threat of loss of privileges... but this
leads to them not having the control they will need when they're
older. The key is to balance their time on the computer/internet
with other parts of their lives. Make sure you observe your children
while they are on the internet. Set limits to the time they can use
the internet, and maybe even the computer. Be involved with
them. As parents, we know all this already, but to reiterate it in
relation to your child's computer and internet usage is important to
me.
Disclaimer
Providing good content is one of the best ways to allow for
children to use the internet. Much like television usage,
allowing children to have full access is not desirable nor
recommended. On television, some shows are good, some are
educational, and some are just fun for them while most of the shows
available are not desirable for an adult to watch let alone
children. I have tried to compile a list of site links on the Kid
Zone that are a little of each, but I do not claim to know what is
OK for your child, nor do I claim to be any kind of expert on child
development. In allowing your child to use the Kid Zone you take
full responsibility of their usage thereof. I do not claim any
control of your computer or children, nor their usage of the Kid
Zone. The site is for entertainment purposes only and I am in
no way responsible for the content of the sites linked from the Kid
Zone, though I have made some effort to make sure the sites are all
acceptable to me for my children, I do not claim the same for
yours. Some of the sites require installation of various scripts and
programs to allow them to run (Flash, Java, Adobe Reader, etc...),
and I do not have control over these programs either.
Without further mumbo jumbo, I'd like to thank you for reading
this page and being concerned for your offspring's internet usage.
Have fun with the site! If you have any questions or recommended
sites for me to add to the Kid Zone links, please send me an e-mail.
I have services that I offer on other web sites (not linked from
here). If you are interested in my computer or internet
services please drop me a note, and I will send you a list of sites.
Have a great day!
~Brian
