Here
are several links to making your own pavilion. The 'Pavolino' This design, by Earl Sir Daffydd ap Gwystle of Atlantia, uses a single center pole. It can be done simply or very extravagantly depending on how you dress it out. This pavilion design is seen more and more on list fields and at wars all over the known world. It is very sturdy when properly sewn and quite easy to put up and take down. It can be any size you like as Daffydd has included a formula for sizing. He has also laid out plans for three basic sizes for your immediate use. More to come... On all pavilion designs, I recommend using Sunforger canvas for it's durability, and for it's fire, water and mildew resistant qualities. Sunbrella is a good second choice. Regular canvas is usable, but requires a great deal of maintenance to assure that it continues to look good over the years. |
